Navigating the metro system is a must-have experience. Imagine a mosh pit full of people much shorter than you, heaving forward towards a door to backstage that is closing extremely fast. At the same time, you are trying to hold on to your wallet, phone and camera to avoid them being ‘swept off into the crowd.’ Once inside, you are in a small room filled with loud voices and the indefatigable guy playing guitar, and you smile, because YOU GOT IN!
Be polite to the locals. Let the old ladies go before you and ‘vousvoyer’ the shopkeepers. They appreciate it and will rip you off a bit less. Or at least flash a gappy, yellowed smile as they continue to rip you off for everything…
