My Tips For Your Next Winter Holiday

Here’s a piece of information that you might like – the winter time is a great time of the year for a holiday. I know that most people like to jet off to their exotic destinations during the summer, but sometimes the unconventional is a better option. Why? It is mainly a better option because it is cheaper, less popular, and unique. If you have never been on a winter holiday before, I would highly recommend that you give it a try. Here are a few of my favorite things to do and places to visit during the winter time.

Skiing In The Alps

To be honest, skiing, in general, is an amazing way to spend the winter time. I know that I don’t love the cold weather, but there is nothing like embracing it when you are skiingIn fact, if you wrap up warm, you can’t even feel the cold because your blood is pumping and you love every minute of the experience. And that is what makes going skiing such an amazing experience – it is extreme. Trust me; you will never forget hurtling down the slopes at high speeds to the day you die.

Ice Skating In New York City

Again, you can ice skate anywhere in the world, and it would be pretty enjoyable. But, I like New York for a reason – because it is New York. I can honestly say that there is not a place like it on the planet, and I have been to a few over the course of my life! The skyscrapers dominate the landscape, the people rush around as if spirits possess them, and the city never sleeps. During the winter, especially at Christmas, New York is the place to beand ice skating is the cherry on top of the cake.

Dog Sledding In Lapland

Dog sledding across Finland is an activity that you will never forget. Why? You will never forget it because it is an experience that you cannot replicate. Dog sledding Lapland style is not something that you can try anywhere in the world because most places lack the raw ingredients. Thankfully, Finland and Scandinavia has them in abundance. Be warned – this is not a holiday for the faint of heart. If you don’t want to spend your time off trekking across wasteland being pulled by a group of trained wolves, go for another option. But, if it sounds like an experience you would like, it will blow your mind.

Sun Bathing Anywhere!

Do the above not sound like a holiday? Okay, then it is time to go conventional! I love chasing the sun around the globe, and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to feel the chill this winter. You cannot beat sitting on a beach as the sun bears down when you know you should be at home in front of the fire trying to stay warm. Let’s face it; if most of us never spent winter at home again, we wouldn’t care!

What do you think? Would you be willing to do any of the above this winter time?

  1. Love the tips, Jelena! Yesterday was for hunting down our Christmas meal. I had to make a trip to the next island over. Discovered, much to my delight, the snow geese and trumpeter swans are back! I had my camera with me and did catch some distance shots. Reported that to my husband when I got back. He wants to be my photographer mate and go with me to shoot these beautiful creatures! I was also able to capture a couple image of the resident pair of Bald Eagles that reside along our West Beach. Keep you travelog going! Love it!
