When we travel long haul, you think about heading to the likes of Australia, Hawaii, Fiji and New Zealand. But, you can’t just fly there in one long plane journey. You need to stop off somewhere, sometimes a few times. However, many of us may spend one or two hours in the airport in these places, but I am here to tell you that there are certain places you should consider venturing out of the airport and giving the benefit of a few days of exploration time. So without further ado here are the destination hot spots to spend some time in when you travel long haul.
Kuala Lumpur is a bustling and vibrant city with an impressive skyline so it’s worth stopping by on your travels further on. You could consider heading up the two towers and taking in the view on the observation deck or just in enjoy the shopping, which is amazing. KL, as the locals like to call it, is a foodie paradise. Malaysia has a multicultural diversity and this is very evident in the food and overall look of the cities, especially Kuala Lumpur. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and is impressive beyond belief. But many people just use it as hub to head on to Australia or the Far-east. You won’t be disappointed by giving this city a chance and staying a few extra days. Take in the impressive shopping malls, or visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque which houses the immense Persian carpet and beautiful crystal chandeliers; a sight to witness, that is for sure.
If you are heading to the west, perhaps to the lovely island of Hawaii, you will need to stop off at the fabulous LAX Los Angeles airport. This doesn’t mean you should forgo your chance to see Hollywood. Spending a few extra days in Los Angeles will be a great experience. A Californian city in the southern point with great weather, immense shopping and fabulous sightseeing. Take a trip down Rodeo Drive and take a walk along the walk of fame. It will be a busy few days but you will have an amazing time in this city. You could also take advantage of the beach as well.
Lastly, we can’t forget the hub of international stopovers, that is Dubai. You should definitely try and spend some time exploring this city. Again, much like Abu Dhabi, you have fabulous shopping malls. This place is one to have your credit card close by. However, there are also the fabulous souk markets where you can witness the beautiful gold, textiles and take in the atmosphere.
