The majority of us who travel are extremely sensual people. We fall in love with a country if it ignites our senses. Let’s be honest; a sensual journey isn’t one you’re going to forget in a hurry. We are forever underestimating how important touch, sight, and taste are to our experiences. But, giving thought to how your senses experience your next holiday will make a huge difference. One destination that’s sure to go down well on every front is Australia. If you’re not convinced, we’re going to take a sensual journey through the country down under.
Let’s start with sight. In many ways, this is the sense that’s most essential to any trip. It’s certainly the one we’ll remember for the longest time. The good news is, there’s plenty of memorable things to see during your Aussie trip. We had to start this list with The Great Barrier Reef. This Reef is the largest living organism on earth, and can even be seen from space. So, no Australian trip would be complete without a visit. No other sight will have the same impact. But of course, there are a few that come close. You’ll want to pay a visit to the top tourist destination, The Sydney Opera House. You may have seen pictures, but nothing beats the real thing. And, make sure to pay a visit to the beautiful Fresher Island. There are so many amazing sights that we could go on for a while. Do your research and decide which look most pleasing to your eyes.
Taste is another important sense you’ll need to satisfy. The cuisine of a country tells you a lot more than you may first realize. Australian staples include creepy crawlies like witchetty grubs, but you’ll be glad to hear the majority of locals avoid these. Instead, many dishes are comforts you’ll recognize from home. Pasties and meat pies are well loved. And, of course, fish and chips by the sea are always necessary. If you want to try something out of your comfort zone, you could test some of the foreign cuisines on offer. You could venture into a Thai restaurant Zetland and get a taste of a whole new nationality. Chinese and Indian dishes are also staples. Oh, and don’t forget the good old Italian takeaway, too!
Touch is another sense that will stick with you long after the trip is over. Of course, you’ll have plenty of time to run your hands through the sand of iconic beaches like Byron Bay Beach. Nothing beats that feeling. It’s also worth getting hands on with the wildlife. Take a trip to The Kangaroo Sanctuary, and others like them. Here, you’ll be able to get up close and personal with these amazing native creatures. When else will you get the chance to hold a baby kangaroo? When in Australia, as they say. Of course, these aren’t your only wonderful wildlife option. You may also want a cuddle with a koala!
